Guild Wars 2 has been beta released for Mac.

Maybe you didn’t hear me the first time but, Guild Wars 2 has been released for Mac.

According to this post on the official website, the Mac version is now available. The best part, however, is that the people who previously purchased the game can now play it on Mac. There will be no differences in servers, so PC users beware. The Mac version is still in beta, so the overall experience will be better once the final version is released.

To access the beta, you need to have an active Guild Wars 2 account. Log in to account.guildwars2.com and click download client to get started. The beta hardware specifications can be found on their website.

Finally, ArenaNet has worked closely with TransGaming, using the latter’s Cider technology. The technology allows future updates to be shared across both platforms.

Campcom Talks about the Resident evil 6 PC port

Some more information about Resident Evil 6, Many fans are asking the developer about a PC release and this is what had been stated.

According to Capcom senior VP Christian Svensson, though, taking a more deliberate approach will help them avoid some of the missteps that can come from a poor port.”The process did not begin until after the console versions were complete, submitted, approved by console 1st parties to use that final codebase as the starting point,” Svensson said on the Capcom Unity forums (via The Escapist). He says the team is appropriately small for the project size, and it will still be “some time” before the company provides details on release dates and PC specs.

“Projects like this you guys seem to think are ‘trivial’ but they are not,” he said. “When they get treated as trivial, you end up with Resident Evil 4 PC… which I don’t think too many true fans were pleased with.” Resident Evil 4 was criticized for poor graphics and lack of mouse support

Capcom announces DLC for Resident Evil 6

Capcom has announced three new gameplay modes coming to Resident Evil 6 as post-launch downloadable content:

  • Survivors Mode will let players respawn as enemies when they’re killed and attack humans. Killing two characters will allow players to respawn as a human, and the last man or team standing wins.
  • Predator Mode has one player take the role of the Ustanak, a “fearsome B.O.W.” that other players will have to try to kill. Players will have to try to kill the Ustanak before time runs out, “or at least survive until the end of the session.”
  • Siege Mode will have two teams (one human, one enemy) and a single non-playable character. The human team will be tasked with protecting the NPC, while the other team will try to kill them. If the NPC is still alive when the game ends, the human team wins.

All three modes will support up to six players and will be played using maps from Mercenaries mode. For now, we have heard these are a timed exclusive for Xbox 360 and at this time I can not speculate or confirm what will be for the other platforms. The three modes will be trackable on ResidentEvil.net, the stat-tracking service Capcom announced last month.

Resident Evil 6 will hit Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on October 2nd with a PC version to follow later. Capcom will release a new demo later this month, featuring content from three of the game’s four campaigns.

Paragon Studios Joins the Circle of life

Well this is sad news to always hear, yet another game developer shutting down another online only game. This is always hard to hear, almost like a death in the video game family. Now if those developers would have made it a free to play game with optional subscription game, and would have kept up to date with the times it may have stood a chance. But lets all take a moment of silence for this City of Heroes….

Ok moments over, Now on the serious side 80 Employees have been laid off due to this game concluding. So what will NCsoft  have in store for their next project? I only ask this because of the reason they gave for ending this project,

Both NCsoft and Paragon Studios are incredibly proud of the success of City of Heroes, but unfortunately, the continued support of the franchise no longer fits within our long term goals for the company.” And would follow up with this statement “All employees at Paragon Studios are affected by this decision, including the management team.” Which tells us they have something else going on behind the curtain and needed to allocate the funds to this new project.

Now Paragon Studios community manager Andy Belford announced this in a Blog post titled “Farewell, from all of us at Paragon Studios

What races will Final Fantasy XIV have?

So to continue coverage on Final Fantasy XIV, Here is the race information with pictures included. All information was gathered from their website finalfantasyxiv.com, and I will continue to bring you the latest coverage on this game as the information rolls in. Here are the Races and information on them.

HYUR

Over the course of some one thousand years and three great migratory waves, the Hyur have come to be the most populous of the civilized races in Eorzea. Compared to the others, theirs is an average physique, both in terms of height and build. The Hyur champion personal freedom and liberty, and their espousal of an eclectic variety of languages and traditions is a legacy of their diverse heritage―as is their resulting lack of a unified cultural identity.

MIQO’TE

Though their presence in Eorzea is lesser than that of the other races, the Miqo’te are easily distinguished by their large, projecting ears and restless, feline tails. The ancestors of this line first made their way to the realm during the Age of Endless Frost in the Fifth Umbral Era, traversing frozen seas in pursuit of the wildlife upon which they subsisted. Instinctual territoriality causes many among them to lead solitary lifestyles. Males in particular are said to shy from contact with others.

ELEZEN

The Elezen are a characteristically tall people, long of limb and slender of build. They are also possessed of a somewhat extended lifespan in comparison to the Hyur. The Elezen once claimed sole dominion over Eorzea, their presence predating that of the other races, and, as such, developed a heightened sense of honor and pride. In years past, the Hyur migration into Elezen lands sparked bitter conflict. At present, however, the mutual understanding reached between the two races allows them to work towards mutual peace and prosperity.

ROEGADYN

The Roegadyn are easily identified by their massive, muscular frames. They are descended from a maritime people that roamed the northern seas, though many of their ancestors turned their longships south to brave the crossing into Eorzean waters. Often considered a barbaric race, the fiercely competitive Roegadyn are also known for their compassion and unswerving loyalty. Many of the greatest warriors in history were born of Roegadyn stock.

LALAFELL

The Lalafell are a folk both rotund and diminutive. Small by any race’s standards and possessed of a childlike countenance, it proves difficult for non-Lalafell to gauge an individual’s age with any degree of accuracy. Originally an agricultural people inhabiting the fertile islands of the south seas, they found their way to Eorzea via the burgeoning trade routes. Lalafell are welcoming of outsiders, and share prosperous relations with all of the other races of Eorzea.
